Know Jute
The advent of jute, the golden fibre as a commercial commodity dates back to late 18th century. Initially made into ropes used in wind and hand driven sea vessels and ships, jute was later spun and woven for manufacture of carpets. Sacking and hand-bags were the initial developments, and with that jute products entered the daily lives of people. Applications in carpet making and packaging have also been dominated by jute, ever since it started to be woven into fabric form.

In countries like India, petrochemical products, especially 'plastic carry bags' have come as a menace. Indiscriminate use of plastic carry-bags has wrecked havoc on the environmental front. The growing demand for innovative, novel & eco-friendly fabrics has propelled renewed interest in Jute, it's amazing versatility & varied application areas further contributing to make it the "Fibre for the Future."

Jute products have a good market, domestic as well as in foreign countries like USA, UK, Germany, Australia & the Middle-East. The products in demand include jute shopping bags, blankets, apparels, handicrafts, wall hangings and floor coverings. While new markets are under exploration through consumer awareness and product promotion programs, it will not be surprising to find this natural fibre become a material for regular use by consumers all over the world.
