Sahara India awarded with PRSI ‘Golden Jubilee Award’

Lucknow , 27 th August 2008 : Sahara India Pariwar was conferred the PRSI Golden Jubilee Award for the ‘ Most Meaningful Event Management’ at International Public Relations Festival in Mauritius. The award was received by Mr. Abhijet Sarckar, Head-Corporate Communications, Sahara India Pariwar from the President of the Republic of Mauritius, The Right Hon'ble Sir Anerood Jugnauth. Mr Sej Motau, Past Chair of the Global Alliance of PR and Communication Management, South Africa and Mr Jacques Dinan, Past President, International PR Association was also present on the occasion.

The Public Relations Society of India (PRSI) celebrated its Golden Jubilee this year hosted second International Public Relations Festival from 25 th to 27 th August 2008 in Mauritius. The conference was attended by International PR Professionals from Global Alliance of Public Relations and Communication Management and International Public Relations Association as well as leading PR & communications professionals, academicians and government officials from Mauritius, South Africa and India.

Mr. Abhijet Sarckar, Head- Corporate Communications, Sahara India Pariwar delivered a speech on ‘Mass Media in India’. In his speech he discussed the changing socio-economic and technological landscape of the country and how these are impacting the mass media space. Commenting on the changes in mass media he said, "The boom is evident in electronic & print media which are throbbing with increased consumption, advertising budgets and sonic competition. On the other hand the traditional mass media streams are re-emerging with new packages while mediums like OOH and event management is becoming more organized and professionally managed".

Mootoosamy, Director, Mauritius Tourism Promotion Authority, Mr. Donald E Payen, Executive Vice President [Corporate Communications], Air Mauritius, Mauritius. Mr. Joalaprasad Hurry, Acting Director, Government Information Service, Mauritius also addressed the PR Festival.
